Make Way for Go Bike Montréal: A Festival on the Move! May 25th to June 1st
Montreal, Monday, May 26, 2014 – It is time for Go Bike Montréal Festival, one week of cycling and urban activities for everyone - presented by Le Lait in cooperation with Jean Coutu. During the coming days, Montreal will be gripped by bike fever on the occasion of several major cycling events, notably Un Tour la Nuit and the 30th Tour de l’Île de Montréal.
ACTUAL island tour for 30th Tour de l’île de Montréal | Sunday, June 1st
To celebrate the event’s 30th anniversary, Vélo Québec proposes an actual 130-km tour of Montreal Island. Also offered are five different and thrilling cycling experiences… For a recreational outing or an athletic challenge, there is a Tour de l’Île for everyone.
Start: Parc Lafontaine Avenue
Finish: Jeanne-Mance Park
-50 or 25 km: Classic version: 50 km of car-free streets, ideal opportunity to see and experience Montreal in a different way. The same pleasure can be had over a shorter distance, via the 25 km route.
-100-130 km Découverte: Original version, to underline the 30th anniversary, where cyclists literally bike 130 km around Montreal Island, with the possibility of shortening the route to 100 km. Morning departure on marked-off route open to motorists.
-50 km Express: Accelerated version where, first to leave, cyclists ride at 30 km/hour for 1½ hours on the closed-off streets of the Tour de l’Île de Montréal route.
-100 km Express Vélo Mag: Experience unique to Montreal for seasoned touring cyclists, who ride under police escort in a peloton, at an average speed of 30 km/hour. Places limited to 200.
-En route to the 30th Tour de l’Île: Friday, May 30th, leaving from Quebec City : an invitation to bike to Montreal to participate in the 30th Tour de l’Île de Montréal.
Un Tour la Nuit | Friday, May 30thA colourful, costumed parade of cyclists of all ages streaming through 20 km of car-free city streets… Night-time Montreal at its best!

Finish: Jeanne-Mance Park
Free for kids aged 12 and under
Again this year, kids aged 12 and under ride for free in Tour de l’Île de Montréal (25 km or 50 km) and Un Tour la Nuit! All the more reason to participate as a family.

Get some tips from parents who bike with their kids not only for recreational fun, but also for practical commutes.

-Midi-vélo Desjardins | Tuesday, May 27th
Celebrate the bicycle in all its forms and get the answers to your questions on biking to work, the transportation cocktail, active and public transportation, cyclotourism, mountain biking and the summer's cycling events. You can also benefit from a basic bike tune-up.

-Bike-to-Work Day | Wednesday, May 28th
Bicycle-friendly entertainment, distribution of our partners' products, collection of used bikes by Gaz Métro in cooperation with SOS Vélo, etc.

-Lecture “21st Century Cities Must Think Biking” | Wednesday, May 28th
Philippe Crist, economist and researcher for the International Transport Forum, will present a lecture entitled “21st Century Cities Must Think Biking”.

-Rendez-vous Cycle Chic | Thursday, May 29th
Vélo Québec invites you to a Rendez-vous Cycle Chic featuring Chris Bruntlett, photo blogger from Vancouver Cycle Chic, who will present his short films on urban biking.
